Operation: Seabird

More than 40 TR volunteers continue to provide relief in Leyte Province, split between Carigara and Tacloban, while a logistics team remains in Manila supporting those downrange.

Many patients are receiving treatment through TR’s mobile patient care or at the field hospital in Carigara. Our team continues to educate those in need of care that our services are in-kind, as many expressed concerns with the financial burden they’d endure.

To meet the ongoing needs of residents, a small team will remain in the Philippines through Thanksgiving, assisting Relief International who will assume the primary lead for medical operations once our DMAT returns to the States.

Operation: Honest Abe

While the disaster zone in Washington, IL was restricted due to freezing rain yesterday, our team on the ground kept churning out damage assessments and collecting work orders from local homeowners.

This weekend, they’ll link up with Americorps and local emergency response agencies to coordinate the efforts of hundreds of area volunteers. Multiple strike teams will assist with debris removal, expedient home repair, and muck-outs.

TR volunteers are billeted at American Legion Post 100 in Washington while the FOB remains stationed at the Home Depot parking lot in Peoria.

Operation: Frozen Coast canceled

Region 10 launched Operation: Frozen Coast to aid homeowners in Kotlik, AK, in the wake of recent coastal flooding. However, due to this weekend’s winter advisory, the operation will no longer move forward due to limited opportunities to transport personnel from Anchorage to Kotlik via bush plane.
